Cool article on what long distance cyclists eat:

My #1 roadside quickie mart grub is Nutter Butters.  Yours?

  1. Sunflower seeds and Skittles.

  2. Homemade granola, minus the nuts (allergies)

  3. Anything and everything you want!

This is why I love bicycle touring. In September I did an 8day ride with a friend from Philly to Gettysburg and back. 350 miles total, usually doing less than 50miles each day. We had one 68 mile day. Unfortunately the food was only so so, despite all the rich local foods grown in Lancaster and surrounding counties.

That’s why it’s even better to tour in Europe. The food is always superb (never mind all the nice bicycle amenities).

Sorry… forgot to say great post – can’t wait to read your next one!

  5. Bicycle touring does wonders for the appetite. Everything tastes great! You can eat and eat and still feel hungry. Riding through the Rockys on some of those long passes, I kept a bag of peanut mm’s and would reward myself with a handful evey mile:)

  6. Hmm…. I wonder what nasty bug is going around on blogs.

I DID NOT write that repetitious post with the added sentence. My screen name on the second one now links to another website and not WalkBikeJersey.

    Hmmm….

  7. I did 2 roadside hot dogs w ketchup in a 300k brevet.
Did Hot Dog Johnnys on a fun long ride around Del Water Gap, my riding buddies did’nt partake.
It is kinda hard to fart while bike riding.
