Bike This Weekend Open Thread!

I’m heading up to Summer Streets tomorrow, and maybe next weekend too.

I’m thinking I’ll be back to falafel and yard sale rides after that. I hear Hackettstown is well on the way to becoming the next Brooklyn and there are going to be some more rides ending with music at the gazebo coming up. Very cool!

  1. Wharton gets grant for Morris Canal restoration

TRENTON — Gov. Jon S. Corzine announced $19.75 million in transportation enhancement grants to municipalities in all 21 counties of the state, including $582,000 for Wharton.

The grants, announced on Thursday, will fund 35 local quality of life, bikeway and pedestrian safety projects.

The Wharton project calls for restoration of Lock 2 of the Morris Canal.

The grants are intended to stimulate economic recovery at the local level by improving quality of life and creating jobs, as well as boosting transportation infrastructure. They are funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and NJDOT’s Fiscal 2010
    Capital Program.
